Accessibility Statement

Logo for Landscape Design Studio.

Landscape Design Studio LLC wants to provide the opportunity for everyone to access our website and learn not only about the company, but also its services, and information about gardens and landscaping. We are continually working towards making the site compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 AA level (WCAG 2.2 AA) standard and strive, where possible, to aim for the AAA level. Efforts to date include:

Color Contrast

The color contrast of text to background and elements, such as buttons to backgrounds are required to have a contrast of 4.5:1 to comply with WCAG 2.2 AA. All elements have at least this contrast throughout the webpage and most cases is greater than 7:1 to comply with the WCAG 2.2 AAA guidelines. Where possible, efforts have been made to comply with the Accessibilty Perceptual Contrast Algorithm (APCA) requirements.

Alternative Text

All images, including the natural background images are described with alternative text.

Heading Structure

Skip links to main content, headings, and links are reachable by tabbing and “clicked” using the spacebar. The entire website is reachable by directional controls.

Cookie Notice

The cookie notice was selected for and adjusted to be reachable by tabbing and not create a keyboard trap. In a lot of websites the cookie notice is not reachable by the tab key leading the navigation to go “under” or “around” the cookie notice creating an obstacle that stays on the site blocking the content underneath.

Elimination of Duplication of “More” Links

Another problem solved, in part, in the Landscape Design Studio website are the multiple “read more” button texts in the query loop. It is a WCAG requirement to not have duplicative link text in buttons or links. While Joe Dolson, an expert in web accessibility noted this problem years ago, it still exists in WordPress.
